Digital Preservation
Digital Preservation
At Con - Ciencia Forense, we are committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published material, ensuring continuous availability for future generations of researchers, academics, and forensic science professionals. To achieve this goal, we have implemented a digital preservation policy based on international best practices:
Redundant backups: We maintain multiple copies of each issue and article in secure storage systems distributed across different geographic locations to minimize risks from technical failures, natural disasters, or cyberattacks.
Standard file formats: Documents are stored in widely accepted digital formats, such as PDF/A, which ensures long-term accessibility and compatibility with future document viewing technologies.
Integration with preservation networks: We collaborate with internationally recognized digital preservation networks, such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), which provide distributed mechanisms for long-term content preservation.
Persistent identifiers: Each article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), facilitating its online location and ensuring its availability even if the original URL changes.
Continuous monitoring and updates: We regularly monitor storage systems and update our technologies according to advances in digital data management and preservation.
With these measures, we guarantee the integrity, security, and continuous access to the knowledge shared through our journal, contributing to the development and dissemination of knowledge in forensic and criminalistic sciences.
